Part-time Youth Services Library Aide
Description: The Merrimack Public Library is looking for a positive team-player to work in our fast-paced Youth Services Department. The ideal candidate will have creative problem-solving skills and can be attentive to details while exhibiting a commitment to our library's mission. Duties include creating and leading innovative programs for children and teens in both an in-person and virtual environment; providing readers' advisory services and guidance in locating library materials; assisting patrons in the use of library computers and online services; and attending outreach events. Hours: Schedule of 20 hours/week includes morning and afternoon shifts, one evening each week and rotating weekends.
Qualifications: Candidate must be age 18 or older. HS diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred. Competency in computer use including Microsoft Office products and internet searching required; familiarity of social media preferred. Prior library experience and/or customer service experience preferred. Experience working with children and teens and/or knowledge of children's and teen literature preferred. Artistic and creative skills are also desirable. MLIS students are encouraged to apply.

Full-time Youth Services Assistant, Teen Services
Description: The Merrimack Public Library is looking for a positive team-player to work in our Teen area and Patron Services Department. The ideal candidate will have creative problem-solving skills and can be attentive to details while exhibiting a commitment to our library's mission. Duties include planning and supervising new, innovative events for tweens and teens and their families/caregivers; providing readers' advisory services and guidance in locating library materials; assisting patrons in the use of library computers and online services; assisting at the Patron Services desk; and attending outreach events. Hours: This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position. The schedule is Monday - Thursday from 12:30-8:30 pm, Friday from 9-5 pm, and a Saturday rotation of approximately one Saturday per month.
Qualifications: This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Five years in a library setting with specialized knowledge and experience preferred. Requires experience with computers, knowledge of young adult literature and experience working with youth. Artistic and creative skills are also desireable.

Salary: $17.40-18.60/hour, depending on experience. This position includes benefits.
